Paris was great – loved it. Fabulous apartment, far too much eating and drinking but, hey, you only live once. ...The Loire Valley was OK, but it had two hard acts to follow (you, Mel & Mercantour; and Paris) and it didn′t really rate. I was tempted to suggest to the people there who ran the tour to visit Le Grand Chalet to see how to do it properly...
Paula Deegan – May 2010 – Mercantour Reflections Guided Walking
We strongly recommend the Valle des Merveilles tour. Fascinating petroglyphs, beautiful wildflowers, plenty of sightings of ibex and chamois. Mel and Liz are full of information and good company. The Merveilles refuge is not too romantic – more like an army barracks – so be prepared for that, and for the enormous meals served at the Le Grand Chalet. In general, it′s a week very well spent.

We keep a beautiful memory of the Mercantour, its overwhelming mountains and beautiful walkings, Christians hospitality and the kindness of the people we've met.
