The 60th
Nice Jazz Festival is on from July 19-26. The event offers a great range of jazz artists – fab locations – and reasonable prices.
There’s also the program of
summer music throughout the Alpes-Maritimes.
See
Crazy men, balancing over the void. Um...., the monkey bridge in Baus de la Frema may seem mad but “retired” Frenchman Henry’s can certainly better that. He has risked life and limb over many a worldwide precipice. His wife must despair of her 77 year old adventurer.
July’s Riviera Times – thanks to the intrepid Jessica McGovern and Claire Lathbury for “suffering” a wet weekend with us, and then writing a great article in this month’s paper!
Strange but true - the oldest iron ore mining remains in Europe in
Valdeblore.
As much as you like in the
Alpes-Maritimes for just €1 a bus ride!
Smell
Courtesy of the divine Ms Maren’s recommendation, the gardens at
La Bastide du Perfumeur, near Grasse. The walk is fragrant and the staff a joy.
The flowers also on the
Sentier Botanique, a quickish hop from Sospel to Olivetta in Italy. Botanist
Christopher Betts has written a very useful guide. We hope to do the trip ourselves this summer and will report back.
Taste
Raymond Blanc has been waxing lyrical about
food in Provence. He knows you know..... Coco Beach Restaurant - founded by a Monsieur Coco (no clowning around!) in 1936 does
bouillabaisse to sigh for.
Speak
Out...., French readers have a look at the
French Government's plans for the wolf for 2008-2012...guaranteed to create a plea for
français facile!!
Tuscany pending
Arezzo in the Autumn......... Next job!!

Testimonials
"Thanks again for the lovely stay in your home. We really did enjoy ourselves despite the rain. Everyone has remarked on how fresh and relaxed we both look so that can't be too bad!"
