Accommodation options

Here you will find details of our own gîte accommodation, and that of all our accommodation partners with whom we work with to provide our range of packages and destinations. We do not act as booking agents, however, we are more than happy to put you in touch with the proprietors should you wish to stay with any of them instead of booking one of our packages.

Gîte la Zourcière   pricing, layout & photos   guest reviews here  availability here

Available for accommodation only breaks as well as for walking/activity holidays for people who prefer the flexibility of self catering.

The gîte, (rated 2 Star) offers an excellent resting place, with a south facing terrace for your breakfast or “sundowner”.

The larger gîte, the IBEX, can sleep up to 4/5 people. It is fully equipped, including washing machine and dish washer, and also Britsh TV.

The smaller gîte, the CHAMOIS, can sleep 2/3 people and has a kitchen, living room, bedroom and shower room.

Sheets and towels are provided so all you need to bring are a few CDs.

WIFI is also available.

You can of course take both the gîtes for larger groups – plus in the summer we have a massive tent with 4 individual sleeping “pods”.

The house sits in 6 acres, is an excellent starting point for local walks, with an ample amount of bird and wildlife to keep the amateur naturalist content, and a stone’s throw from Berthemont’s own thermal baths.

Mel (who is a mountain leader) and I, Liz, are on site to offer advice on whatever level/type of activity you want to get in to, or take you out on guided walks.

Within walking distance, milk and cheese are available; and 5 kilometres away is Roquebillière with shops, bars and restaurants. Thanks to local enthusiasts we also have a small market on Tuesday mornings, plus dancing every Wednesday night in July/August at the town square in Roquebilliere.

Sainte-Agnès - Chez Denis

Overlooking the Mediterranean coast at Menton, our partner Denis' winter residence sits just below Europe's highest coastal hanging village.

From here, Denis runs horse riding outings through from September to the end of May, before he takes his animals on the annual transhumance to his summer alpine base at Le Boréon high in the Mercantour.

The property consists of the house, an annexe which has one bedroom with a separate bathroom. It can sleep up to 9 people - ideal for large groups and families.

The setting is absolutely magnificent, and is ideally based for exploring both the coast between Monaco and the Italian border, and the beautiful hinterland rising from the coast and into the Alpes Maritimes.

Pricing is €900 per week, plus a breakage deposit of €200.

Le Grand Chalet - Valdeblore

For our catered options here in the Alpes Maritimes, we work very closely with Luc and Christine at their chambre d'hôte in Valdeblore.

Luc and Christine have a charming chambre d'hote in Valdeblore overlooking the village of St Dalmas Valdeblore in the Tinée Valley. There’s also an open fire in the living room plus a sauna for a treat on winter nights.
Christine prepares sumptuous dinners made from local produce - these are a must, and you'll be sure of a warm and friendly welcome.
To see more detail of this beatiful location you can visit their own web site.

Hôtel Saint Yves - Sainte Agnès

We are happy to use the cosy Saint Yves on either the first or last night of the Transhumance plus as a base for the French Riviera Back Country holiday. It is also a great place to stay for some R&R (Frédéric's shop selling beautiful glass is worth a look in its own right). The village of Sainte Agnès is the highest coastal perched village in Europe, and offers a gorgeous view down to the Med at Menton.
